Volunteering and community aid

Volunteering and community aid 1024 683 Good Life Institute

Foundation of Goodness has hosted over 1000 volunteers since 2005, and rural community members across Sri Lanka have benefited from this service. Volunteering is associated with increased happiness, reduced stress and improved satisfaction with the good vibes of noble work that exists. Per each individual’s interest, guests will be encouraged to volunteer at Foundation of Goodness for 2-hour sessions, either once daily, once every other day, or otherwise according to their preference.

Community Aid

Engaging in service in the local community connects the guests to the people around them. It brings people from different walks of life together, fostering new friendships and personal growth, humbling experience to understand one’s blessings.

Guests will also have the opportunity to visit a local Elder’s Home and/or Children’s Home and be encouraged to do some service there. Some ideas of service projects to do with the Elders’ Home and/or Children’s Home:

  • Bring puzzles or coloring books to work on with Children or Elders
  • Paint walls for repair or to add colorful murals
  • Take children over to Elder’s Home to do a shared activity

Guests will be staying at the Lahiru Villa or at a partner Villa of the Foundation of Goodness. The Foundation of Goodness is located in the heart of the village and most of the activities will take place at the Centre of Excellence. It is a lively, social place that once belonged to the Founder of FoG and in real altruistic manner gifted to the Foundation. When you stay here, you will be immersed in a community of caring personnel making your time at ease, volunteers and a programme structure that will make your life enriching.
